My Philosophy

There are times in all our lives when a little help is needed.  Whether it is a period that is more difficult to manage, a death or other loss you are coming to terms with, a struggle with long-standing depression or anxiety,  difficulties in relationships, or you just want to work on personal growth.    Maybe you are looking for someone to help you get organized or get your priorities worked out.  Perhaps just a sympathetic ear with someone who can help you sort out your thoughts and feelings.

I have over 19 years of  experience treating a variety of psychological difficulties in therapy, grief therapy for dealing with a death and other types of losses and transitions, performing psychological and learning disability/ADHD assessments, and helping people make positive changes in their interpersonal relationships.  I have extensive training in individual, couple's, and family therapy from an Integrative perspective.  Click here for more information about my specialties.

What is an Integratively trained psychologist?  It means that I work with each client using a blend of approaches and interventions that are most appropriate to the individual, situation, and world view (the way he or she understands the world around him or her).  I evaluate my clients' understanding of themselves, relationships, physical health, and systems in which they live (i.e., work, relationship with nature, religious institutions, school, etc.).  I also make sure to attend to my client's mind, body, and spirit throughout therapy.  It is my belief that if any of those facets of life are not healthy, then the person may not be functioning to his/her full potential.  If needed, I am open to suggesting appropriate medical referrals to rule out any biological reasons for the presenting problem, and support the client's desire to use complementary medicine such as meditation, massage, and acupuncture.  My goal for those who wish to use medications is to have a collaborative relationship with his or her psychiatrist and other medical health professionals.

Testimonials

"The impact therapy has had on me has been enormous to say the least. The therapist I had for several years was wonderful and I can’t begin to describe everything she’s done for me. It’s not hard to see that problems don’t go away in an instant and that things take time. Spending time in therapy was no problem at all for me, and going each week was something I enjoyed very much. My therapist, Dr. Christina Zampitella, was able to guide me into having a deep understanding of myself and my situations. I enjoyed the weekly or bi-weekly sessions with her as she was a very nice, caring, intelligent and comfortable person to talk to. I would often feel better even if it was only temporary when leaving a session. I remember when I first came to her years back in tears and in pieces in many ways. The person I was then and the person I am now are so different it’s unbelievable. I’ve come out of therapy as a more logical, rational, motivated and confident person. Dr. Zampitella had a great ability of guiding me to the correct solutions without giving me them directly. I feel I am a successful person for being 22 years old, and without her help I can definitely say I wouldn’t have come half as far as I have now."  ~ Logan G.

"Just a note to let you know we're doing well. When we were on our Florida vacation, the gentleman next to us asked if we were newlyweds. It was nice. We used to get asked this a lot the first couple of years we were together. Thanks again for helping us and giving us the tools of communication we needed so badly." ~ Anonymous
